The old and the new - two nearly-new Class 1047 locomotives flank one somewhat older Class V43 locomotive in the stabling sidings at Sopron station. Whilst the V43 can only operate on 25kV 50Hz supply, the 1047s can also operate on the Austrian 15kV 16.7Hz system and are intended for use on cross-border services. These locos are operated by Györ-Sopron-Ebenfurti Vasút (GySEV)/Raab-Oedenburg-Ebenfurter Eisenbahn (ROeEE), an interesting company largely owned jointly by the Austrian and Hungarian governments. MÁV also has some 1047s, which are similar to the Austrian Class 1116.Previous | NextRush hour at Sarbogard, on the main line between Budapest and Dombovar.
